Hello.

Welcome to my blog. I document the exploration and healing of my inner world and explain the processes I use in my work as a hypnotherapist.

Which Fears Hold You Back?

I am able to imagine characters of my fears, aspects of myself that have developed as coping mechanisms from events like deep disappointments and adopted negative self-talk, to traumatic experiences. These images and symbols of these characters, or aspects, compile to form a complex tapestry within the canvas of my mind. Each thread represents a fragment of my emotional history, woven together by the loom of time and memory. The characters of my fears stand as sentinels, guarding the gates of vulnerability, while the coping mechanisms, born from the ashes of my struggles, offer a shield against the storms of life. These symbolic embodiments speak in silent whispers, their voices a fusion of past pains and present uncertainties, guiding my thoughts and actions. As I navigate the labyrinth of my psyche, I strive to decipher the hidden meanings behind each visage, seeking wisdom and growth amidst the chaos. Through integrating these manifestations, I aim to reclaim the power they once held over me, forging a path towards healing and self-discovery.

During a facilitated session I was asked to consider with which aspect of myself I desired greater connection several aspects came forward; Stupidity, Confusion, and Worthlessness. I chose to integrate my fear of Worthlessness. He presented as a young man, emaciated, covered in lesions from having been neglected. Mold was growing on his skin. He was in the dank corner of a dungeon cell, his face to the wall, and his spine protruding towards me as I asked for his hand, and met his gaze. I told him I was sorry for rejecting him and took him to a beautiful beach and cleansed his wounds in the ocean. We floated hand in hand with the sun kissing our faces. He began to thrive and smile. I drew him closer as I said how much I loved him and wanted him to be a part of me. His arm merged into my arm with sparks of fire and slowly his body integrated into mine. The energy and power I was missing in my sense of self worth continues to grow and thrive within me.

Identifying the fears that are holding you back from living the life you want is an essential first step toward personal growth and overcoming obstacles. Here's a list of other strategies to help you recognize and understand these fears:

Journaling: Maintain a journal and regularly write about your feelings, experiences, and reactions to different situations. Look for recurring patterns of fear or discomfort.

Self-Reflection: Take time for introspection and contemplation. Ask yourself what areas of your life feel stagnant or unfulfilled, and explore the possible fears that might be causing these roadblocks.

Mindfulness Practice: Practice mindfulness to become more aware of your thoughts and emotions in the present moment. Notice any signs of anxiety or resistance that arise.

Identify Avoidance Behaviors: Take note of any situations or activities you tend to avoid. Fear often leads to avoidance, so identifying these patterns can offer valuable insights.

Talk to Trusted Friends, a Coach, or a Therapist: Discuss your thoughts and feelings with people you trust or consider seeking the support of a therapist. Talking about your fears can bring clarity and understanding.

Examine Negative Self-Talk: Pay attention to your inner dialogue and identify any self-limiting beliefs or negative thoughts that may be rooted in fear.

Explore Childhood Experiences: Reflect on your upbringing and past experiences to uncover any early traumas or events that may have shaped your fears.

Ask "What If" Questions: Ask yourself hypothetical "What if" questions about the things you want to pursue. Observe your emotional reactions to these scenarios to reveal potential fears.

Assessing Procrastination: Notice areas of your life where you tend to procrastinate. Fear of failure or rejection might be underlying reasons for procrastination.

Recognize Physical Reactions: Pay attention to your body's physical responses in various situations. Sweating, trembling, or increased heart rate can indicate fear.

Use Guided Visualization: Practice guided visualization exercises to imagine yourself facing your fears. Observe your reactions and feelings during the process.

Review Past Regrets: Think about past opportunities you may have missed due to fear. Analyze what held you back and whether those fears are still present.

Explore Your Dreams and Desires: Consider what you truly want to achieve in life. Fear may be the obstacle preventing you from pursuing those dreams.

Read and Educate Yourself: Read books or articles on personal development and fear. Learning about different fears and their manifestations can increase self-awareness.

Step Out of Your Comfort Zone: Purposefully engage in activities that take you out of your comfort zone. Observe your physical, emotional and associative thought responses and identify the fears involved.

Pay Attention to Jealousy or Envy: Jealousy or envy of others may indicate unfulfilled desires due to fear of failure or inadequacy.

Take Personality Tests: Some personality tests and assessments can provide insights into your fears and motivations.

Ask for Feedback: Seek honest feedback from friends, family, or colleagues about any patterns they notice in your behavior that may be fear-driven.

Identify Limiting Habits: Notice any habits or routines that might be serving as coping mechanisms for underlying fears.

Be Patient and Kind to Yourself: The process of identifying deep-seated fears can be challenging. Practice self-compassion as you explore these aspects of yourself.

Remember that recognizing your fears is the first step toward addressing and overcoming them. As you become more aware of your fears, you gain the power to work through them and live a more fulfilling and empowered life.

I offer my 100% presence in coaching you through the process of identifying your fears for the purpose of releasing them.

Thank you for your courage to self reflect,  as within, so without, When you change yourself, you change the world.
